Knox College Policy and Procedures Addressing Sexual Harassment and Sexual Misconduct

Knox College does not tolerate sex discrimination or sexual harassment. Disregard for these standards in the form of any violation of this Policy may result in disciplinary action. Knox’s Policy Against Discrimination and Harassment may result in disciplinary action. Complaints alleging sex discrimination or sexual harassment should be directed to the Title IX Coordinator. Knox's Policy and Procedures apply to current students, administrators, faculty members, staff members, contractors, visitors, guests, or other members of the College community.

It is important that every member of the College community understands that College Policy prohibits sex discrimination and sexual harassment between all members of the College community: for example, between an instructor and a student, between two students, or between a student and an applicant or campus guest. This Policy applies in all College programs and activities, including, but not limited to, discrimination in athletics, instruction, grading, College housing, and College employment. Knox offers educational programming designed to promote the awareness of sex discrimination and sexual harassment for all students, faculty, and staff that includes training for officials with responsibility for investigating or adjudicating alleged violations of the Policy, primary prevention and awareness programs, and ongoing prevention and awareness campaigns.

In addition, the College prohibits retaliation against an individual for the purpose of interfering with any right or privilege secured by Title IX and its regulations or the Illinois Preventing Sexual Violence in Higher Education Act, or because an individual has, in good faith, opposed any practices forbidden under this Policy or made a report or complaint, testified, assisted, or participated or refused to participate in any manner in an investigation or proceeding. It is central to the values of the College that any individual who believes they may have been the target of prohibited discrimination or harassment feels free to report their concerns for appropriate investigation and response, without fear of retaliation or retribution.
