When the State of Illinois granted a charter to Knox Manual Labor College in 1837, it entrusted the leadership of the College to uphold its mission as outlined in the original Circular and Plan. That mission has been upheld for more than 177 years by 20 presidents; countless administrators, faculty, and staff; and myriad trustees who have served on the Knox College Board.
Today, college and universities across the country face unforeseen challenges as they educate tomorrow's global citizens and leaders. Knox's president, supported by the senior leadership, works together with the Board of Trustees to face these challenges, to uphold the mission of the College, and to plan and implement its long-term academic, financial, and sustainability initiatives.
