The Knox College for Kids summer enrichment program will be held on campus this summer from July 7th-July 18th. Last year’s relaunch of the program was a success, and we are eager to embark on the cycle of planning and bringing the program to life again this year!
Our mission is in the name: Knox College for Kids. We desire youth in Galesburg and surrounding communities to develop a relationship with Knox College, see themselves as belonging on campus and have experiences with social and academic life on campus. The two-week summer enrichment program provides learning opportunities for youth (entering grades 1-8) that may not be available in their typical schooling contexts and provides opportunities for instructors to teach to their passions!

Knox College for Kids will be held for two weeks, on weekdays, July 7th through July 18th. The program will run from 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., following the daily schedule shown below:
Youth (entering grades 3-8) indicate courses of interest when registering and are placed into three courses, one during each of the three periods. They follow their individual schedule -- just like college students! Fellows provide support during transitions between periods.
For our youngest participants (entering grades 1-2), we have a “Junior” program that organizes the children into groups. Each group is led by a designated fellow who supports the children as they move through the group’s collective schedule.
Current and retired college faculty, public and private PK-12 educators, community-based educators, and community members participate as instructors.

Fellows (college and high school students) greet youth participants upon their arrival each day, provide logistical support (e.g., supervise drop-off and pick-up, escort youth around campus), facilitate morning meetings with small groups during the daily gathering time, and serve as teaching assistants.

Prior to the start of the program, details will be shared with all participants via email related to the following:
The registration fee is projected to be $200. This covers the cost of materials, a Knox College 4 Kids t-shirt, and general program expenses.
We intend to provide scholarships to those who have financial need.
