Major in Economics, Minor in Business & Management
Describe your internship.
I worked in a market/sales/solution department, translating company and daily reports for the financial and international market from English to Korean. I also made presentations about selected bonds, stocks, and more for clients.
Having knowledge in economics and business helped me adjust to a financial firm. Sending business e-mails and making slide presentations was already familiar to me because of my work-study employment experience at Knox as well as through participation in Union Board and Korean Culture Club.
How do you see this experience having an impact on your future plans?
After the internship, I realized I was more interested in the relationship management aspect of a firm than sales. This internship at Societe Generale has broadened my perspective of a future career path.
What are some main takeaways from your experience?
I was able to meet with the CEO of Societe Generale in Korea. He gave me some essential and helpful advice about financial markets and future career plans. Building relationships with other interns and co-workers was another great takeaway. Lastly, translating improved my Korean financial vocabulary.
