Mark & Jeannette Kleine Center for Community Service

The Kleine Center for Community Service manages a wide range of engagement opportunities, including volunteer service, charitable activities, and community-based learning designed for the students, faculty, and staff of Knox College. Each term, the Kleine Center holds a Day of Service to connect the Knox community with our Galesburg community partners, sponsored by the Mary Filosa Brown Endowed Memorial Fund for Community Service. The Kleine Center for Community Service is part of the Division of Student Development.

Volunteer projects coordinated with the Kleine Center fall into two categories:

• Short-term: Opportunities include working with a community organization for a special event such as the Galesburg Public Library Book Sale, The Galesburg Historical Society Chocolate Festival, Christmas in Action: Spring Build Project, Neighborhood Clean-Up Days: sponsored by the United Way of Knox County, Jazz Nights at The Galesburg Community Arts Center, and more.
• Long-term: The Kleine Center collaborates with a local organizations to identify and share resources to develop long-term and sometimes co-curricular projects. Examples of these types of partnerships include students' participation in the YMCA of Knox County’s After School Care Program, The Galesburg Public Library Tech Tutors Program, Beacon of Hope Hospice Volunteers, Blessings in a Backpack, and more.
