Chemistry, 2003
There’s chemistry—the literal kind, with polymers and hydrocarbons—and there’s chemistry, the magic that brings people together to do great things. Geoff learned about both at Knox.
As captain of the baseball team and editor-in-chief of The Knox Student, Geoff learned to recognize other people’s strengths, understand their different points of view, and make it all work together. Those experiences—plus the ability to write effectively and think critically—helped him land his first job working in ESPN’s on-air graphics unit. In 2008, he won a National Sports Emmy for Outstanding Technical Team (there’s that metaphorical chemistry again).
Now, at the NCAA, he leads the implementation of multi-year, multi-million-dollar technology projects that power college sports. “Even though I’m not in a lab any more, the process of applying new knowledge to my work environment is the same my professors instilled in me at Knox.”
