Jillian Rochford

Morton, Illinois

Studio Arts Major and Museum Studies Minor

Rochford is planning to intern with the Peoria Riverfront Museum as an educational assistant and docent.

Jillian Rochford ’26 started her education at Knox with a focused career goal—to work in a museum as a curator. Now, studying as a studio art major, Rochford is planning to intern with the Peoria Riverfront Museum in the summer after her second year as an educational assistant and docent. Rochford hopes this will provide an avenue into the field after graduation.

Rochford has practiced art as a hobby for many years. She believes that creating art is a great way to expend her creative energy. “I use art as a way to escape from things and I always feel like I'm missing something if I haven't done something creative throughout my day,” she said.

Outside of the studio, Rochford enjoys running for the Prairie Fire track and field team. She appreciates being able to pursue her passion for sports in balance with art classes, rounding out her liberal arts experience. “I was over the moon when I realized that I could take all my studio classes and be in athletics at the same time,” Rochford said. “I never thought I'd be able to manage it all until I came here and realized that I could do it at Knox—I have time and the resources available to make it all work.”

After joining campus, Rochford explored different communities and found her home in the Tri Delta Epsilon sorority, where she currently serves as the director of the first-year experience. Rochford is responsible for educating first-year members and planning recruitment events. She has also taken on the role of vice president for the recently founded Art History Club.

“I am excited to meet new people and grow into my roles in Tri Delta and the art history club, while hopefully achieving personal bests in track and field as well,” she said.
