The Board of Trustees selected Trustee Tony Etz ’83 to chair a search committee made up of faculty, staff, alumni, and students. Since March, he has been meeting with constituents to learn what qualities and experience they are looking for in the next president. He recently issued this update on the committee’s work.
To Knox Alumni, Parents and Friends,
As a new year begins, I am excited to provide this update on the search for Knox’s 20th President, and want to express my gratitude to the trustees, faculty, staff, students, and community members on the Presidential Search Committee who are working with me in this most important decision for our College. The committee has spent the fall evaluating a robust pool of candidates. Despite the realities of COVID-19 and the challenges created by the pandemic, we are excited by the quality and experience of those who have chosen to apply for the presidency at Knox.
The candidates are experienced, insightful, and excited about the opportunity to lead Knox College. The candidates are diverse in background and orientation, and uniformly connected to the mission of the College. The candidates have all demonstrated remarkable leadership at their own institutions, which include some of the leading colleges and universities in the country. The committee is confident that as we create our pool of semifinalists, and ultimately, finalists, we will be talking to exemplary leaders.
We are on track to bring to the Knox College Board of Trustees a candidate in late winter/early spring. Because of the uncertainties of COVID-19, some of our target dates may become fluid and will necessarily shift, but we do expect to bring finalists to the Knox campus as originally planned. As we go further into the winter, I will write to update you again. In the meantime, I am wishing that you and your families stay safe and healthy.
Sincerely,
Tony Etz ’83
Chair, Presidential Search Committee
