The Gerald and Carol Vovis Center for Research and Advanced Study is here to assist students with pursuing undergraduate research, scholarship, and creative work. With its help, an estimated 89% of Knox students complete an independent research or creative project by the time they graduate.
The center facilitates research and creative work for students across numerous channels. With the Richter Memorial Fund, students can secure funding for research and creative projects. These projects are designed by the student under the guidance of a supportive Knox faculty member. Collaborative research projects run during summer and winter break and offer students the ability to engage in faculty-guided, group research on a specific topic. Knox’s top students apply to participate in the Knox Summer Scholars program, a 8-week summer research/creative fellowship program, which includes funding for the student as well as a seminar on graduate school exploration and preparation. Finally, at HORIZONS, Knox student achievement is celebrated. Students share their work with the Knox community via oral presentations and academic posters at this exciting symposium in the spring term.
The Vovis Center also supports students through the process of finding and applying for nationally competitive fellowships and scholarships, as well as those interested in pursuing a career in the health professions.
