Department of Child and Family Services Certification

Knox College Students, Faculty, and Staff participate in this required child safety training designed by the Illinois Department of Child and Family Services, to participate in volunteer and employment activities which involve children. The Kleine Center for Community Service, Office of Human Resources, and the Dean of Students office makes this process accessible to all at no cost to the individual.

"Safety and security don't just happen, they are the result of collective consensus and public investment. We owe our children, the most vulnerable citizens in our society, a life free of violence and fear."
- Nelson Mandela

This training must be completed to be placed within any and all programs that involve working with children.

Certification is quick and simple:

  1. Watch this video, complete online test, and print completion certificate
  2. Print and sign this DCFS Form
  3. Once you have completed these forms, please deliver them to Kleine Center for Community Service, which is located in Alumni Hall on the second floor, room 201.

For fields asking for employment/position, it is encouraged to put "volunteer" or "student"

The Kleine Center will deliver your forms to our reporting office and from there a copy of these forms will be placed in your student or personnel file.

Questions can be directed to Teresa Nelson.
