Our Mission

The Bastian Family Center for Career Success empowers Knox College students and alumni to navigate their professional journeys with confidence, purpose, and resilience. Rooted in the liberal arts tradition, we provide personalized guidance, experiential learning opportunities, and strategic connections to prepare students for meaningful careers and lifelong success. Through collaboration with faculty, employers, and alumni, we foster a dynamic community that champions curiosity, adaptability, and the pursuit of impactful work in an ever-evolving world.

Our Programs

From first year to senior, our programs meet students at where they are and equip them with applicable, transferable skills and knowledge to ensure their success after graduation.

  • Career Advising
One-on-one support with resumes, cover letters, personal statements, and interview preparation. We also assist with job and internship search strategies to help students find opportunities and succeed in their career journey.
  • Career Resources
Self-guided tools to support students’ career development, including sample resumes, networking tips, JobScan to help tailor ATS-friendly resumes, and professional attire resources like the on-campus Career Closet and Knox Career Wardrobe.
  • KnoXTreks Pathways / Workability Training
KnoXTreks Pathways (KTP) provides students and employers an exclusive curated pathway to connect and develop meaningful relationships for post-graduate success and sustainable employment within their industry. Students must complete a multi-session workability training before applying to the KTP program.Tailored to each year, this training covers key employability concepts and is led by staff, faculty, or alumni.
  • On-Campus Employment
On-campus employment provides students with hands-on, experiential learning opportunities that complement their academic experience. Many of our students working on campus, these roles help develop valuable skills while offering flexibility and a deeper connection to the campus community.
  • KnoXCorps / KnoXPloration / Parker Dewey
We connect Knox students with hands-on experiences. Through KnoXCorps, students partner with local nonprofits for impactful projects. KnoXPloration offers career exploration opportunities locally, and Parker Dewey provides micro-internships opportunities.
  • PIE (Professional Immersion Experience) Trip
Each Spring Break, selected students through an application process will participate in the Professional Immersion Experience (PIE) trip. The PIE trip includes company site visits to explore a variety of industries, followed by a networking event designed to foster meaningful connections with alumni and professionals.
  • Business Intensive Seminar
A four-day seminar in June designed for students to gain foundational business knowledge. Participants will engage in case studies, analyze real-world business challenges, and develop critical skills that can be applied across industries.
