Knox College swimmer Madeline Bruce set two school records in two days in a recent meet.
A first-year from Dunlap, Illinois, Bruce set a new all-time mark of 25.23 seconds in the 50 yard freestyle on Friday, Dec. 6, and a new school record time of 55.66 seconds in the 100 yard freestyle on Saturday, Dec. 7. Both times were good for second-place finishes at the Pioneer Classic meet at Grinnell College.
In addition to one first place and three second place performances, Bruce swam on the 200 yard medley, 400 yard freestyle, and 800 yard freestyle women's relay teams.
The Knox women's squad finished with 266 points to place seventh in the team standings. The Knox men scored 108 points and finished 12th overall. "This was a long and demanding meet, and they really rose to the occasion," coach Jonathan Powers said of his teams.
