The Prairie Fire men's soccer team lost to Grinnell College 3-2 in overtime, bringing their season to an end.

The Knox College Prairie Fire men's and women's soccer teams are gearing up to compete in the Midwest Conference Tournament that starts on Friday, November 3—on Knox's Prats Field for the men and at St. Norbert College for the women.

Both the Prairie Fire men's team and the women's team finished as regular season co-champions of the Midwest Conference. On October 28, both teams played away games against St. Norbert that ended in scoreless ties. Conference tiebreaker rules determined that Knox would host the men's tournament and St. Norbert would host the women's tournament.

This will be the fifth consecutive tournament appearance for the men and the third consecutive tournament appearance for the women.

Knox Men's Soccer

The Knox men (13-2-4, 8-0-1 MWC) share the regular season championship with the St. Norbert Green Knights.

In the October 28 game, the Prairie Fire and St. Norbert shot an even 12 goals each in what was truly an even match.

"I am very happy for our guys. They went to Norbert and a got a deserved result. The match was even on shots in the end, but neither side really got going with their attack," said Head Coach Tyler Sheikh. "We leaned on what is statistically the best defense in the history of the Midwest Conference. After playing on the road at the #2 and #3 seeds this past week, and getting results, we deserve to host the tournament and call ourselves champions."

Justin Dunn finished with seven saves to keep the opponent off the board for the 12th time this season.

The schedule for the men's tournament will be as follows:

Friday, November 3

11 a.m. Semi-Final 1: #1 Knox College vs. #4 Grinnell College
