In April, students in Associate Professor of Music Sarah Day-O'Connell's Introduction to Music class took a trip to Chicago to experience a new kind of music.
After seeing Anonymous 4, a female a cappella quartet that specializes in medieval music, the group participated in a chant workshop on campus led by composer and arranger of sacred music Ana Hernandez and Anonymous 4 member Ruth Cunningham. The students learned about the medieval style and the way chants are formed and structured and had the opportunity to learn and perform a few pieces.
