Scott Weiss, visiting assistant professor of Classics, is looking forward to teaching classes on Latin language and culture, Greek and Roman mythology, and Roman art and architecture at Knox. "The relatively small size of the college means I get to teach a wide range of topics rather than a narrow subspecialty," says Weiss.

"Knox excited me as a place to teach because its students genuinely care about learning and creating a supportive community for each other."

Weiss is one of 10 new faculty who will be teaching at Knox during 2019-2020 school year. Meet the new members of the Knox College faculty:

Andrew Arnold '06
Visiting Instructor of Psychology
Arnold is a doctoral candidate in psychology at the University of California in San Diego. After completing his degree in neuroscience at Knox, he received his M.A. in psychology and neuroscience from the University of Chicago in 2011. His teaching interests are in social neuroscience, emotional processing, and loneliness.

Thomas Bell
Assistant Professor of Political Science
Bell received his Ph.D. in Government at The University of Texas at Austin in 2019. He received his B.A. in political science at Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas. His teaching interests include constitutional law, political theory, and American politics.

Ashon Bradford
Assistant Professor of Anthropology-Sociology
Bradford received his M.S. in 2012 and Ph.D. in 2018, both from Cornell University, in developmental sociology. He received his B.A. in sociology from Grambling State University. His teaching interests include rural poverty, race and ethnicity, demography, education and social mobility, spatial inequality, hip-hop, and black leadership.

Christopher Holland '13
Visiting Assistant Professor of Psychology
Holland comes from Hutchinson Community College, where he was a professor of general psychology. Holland received his Ph.D. in 2018 and his M.S. in 2016, both from Texas Christian University, in experimental psychology. He received his B.A. from Knox in psychology. His teaching interests include social cognition, evolutionary psychology, and human mating.

Louise Kleszyk
Visiting Assistant Professor of Philosophy
Kleszyk joins the Knox College faculty after being on the faculty at Chapman University since 2014. She received her Ph.D. in 2015 and her M.A. in 2010 in philosophy from the University of California, Irvine. She received her B.A. in philosophy from Hamline University in 2006. Her teaching interests are ethics and applied ethics.

Yannick Marshall
Assistant Professor of Africana Studies
Marshall comes to Knox from Hobart and William Smith Colleges, where he was a visiting professor of Africana Studies. He received an M.A. in African American Studies in 2010, an M.A. in African Studies in 2012, his M.Phil. in African Studies in 2014, and His Ph.D. in African Studies in 2017, all from Columbia University. He received his B.A. in political science and Caribbean studies from the University of Toronto in 2007. Marshall's fields of specialization are police power; anti-blackness; racialized violence; colonial masculinities; East African Studies; African American Studies; and race, space, urbanity, and the built environment.

Deana Nichols
Visiting Assistant Professor of Theatre
Nichols comes to Knox from Indiana University, where she was an associate instructor from 2008-2012. She received her Ph.D. in theatre history, theory, and literature in 2014 from Indiana University. Deana received her M.A., also in theatre history, theory, and literature, from Indiana University in 2008. In 1999, Deana received a B.A. in theatre and English Education from Abilene Christian University. Her teaching interests include theatre history, dramatic literature, directing, and acting.

Michal Ran-Rubin
Visiting Instructor of Anthropology-Sociology
Ran-Rubin, a doctoral candidate at the University of Chicago, received her M.A. in anthropology at the University of Chicago in 2009. In 2007, she received her M.A. in anthropology at the University of California-Berkeley, and her A.B. in anthropology and human development in 2005 at the University of Chicago. Her teaching interests are in urban studies and geographic methods, gender, kinship and family studies, globalization and political economy, human rights and  immigration/refugee studies, modern Islam and Middle Eastern Studies, and the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

Scott Weiss
Visiting Assistant Professor of Classics
Weiss received his Ph.D. in classics from Stanford University in 2019. He received his M.A. in classics in 2013 from the CUNY Graduate Center and his B.A. at Swarthmore College in Latin and Greek in 2011. His teaching interests include Latin literature, Roman wall painting, Latin epigraphy, Roman slavery, and the Neronian period.

Moheeb Zidan
Assistant Professor of Economics
Zidan comes to Knox from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where he was a lecturer in the economics department. At the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Moheeb received his Ph.D. in economics in 2019 and his M.S. in economics in 2017. The University of Haifa is where Moheeb received his M.A. in economics in 2009 as well as his B.A. in economics in 2006. His teaching interests include macroeconomics, economic growth, inequality, and trade.
