Hulett Receives Pi Sigma Alpha Award

Chapter Advisor Recognition Award from national honor society for political science

Sue HulettL. Sue Hulett, Richard P. and Sophia D. Henke Distinguished Professor of Political Science at Knox College, has received a 2009 Chapter Advisor Recognition Award from Pi Sigma Alpha, the national honor society for political science.

Presented to faculty members who have advised campus chapters of Pi Sigma Alpha, the award honors "extraordinary dedication, commitment, and leadership."

Hulett has served as advisor for the Knox chapter of Pi Sigma Alpha for 25 years. A member of the Knox faculty since 1980, Hulett teaches international relations, international law and organizations, and religion and politics. Her research interests include United States foreign policy and the rise of Christian fundamentalism as a political and social movement in the U.S.

The Knox College chapter of Pi Sigma Alpha was founded in 1953 and is the second-oldest in Illinois. The organization has chapters at approximately 700 colleges and universities.

Founded in 1837, Knox is a national liberal arts college in Galesburg, Illinois, with students from 47 states and 48 countries. Knox's "Old Main" is a National Historic Landmark and the only building remaining from the 1858 Lincoln-Douglas debates.
