Business Club Visits John Deere Harvester Works

Knox College Business ClubThe Knox College Business Club got a guided tour of one of the nation's most advanced manufacturing facilities in January. Members of the club visited the Deere & Company Harvester Works in East Moline, Illinois on January 26.

"Deere's Harvester Works is one of the largest and most automated and technologically advanced manufacturing and assembly plants in the U.S.," said the club's advisor, John Spittell, Executive-in-Residence and professor and chair of business and management, who accompanied the students on the trip.

The thirteen club members were also hosted at Deere's World Headquarters in Moline for a tour, Q&A, and lunch.

Knox College Business ClubThe visit was made possible through the assistance of Mark Kleine, a member of the Knox College Board of Trustees. Kleine's firm, Kleine Equipment, is the only "Gold Star" John Deere dealer in West Central Illinois - a recognition conferred by the John Deere Company.

Founded in 1837, Knox is a national liberal arts college in Galesburg, Illinois, with students from 47 states and 48 countries. Knox's "Old Main" is a National Historic Landmark and the only building remaining from the 1858 Lincoln-Douglas debates.
