Bike mechanic, lifeguard, tour ambassador, teaching assistant—many on-campus jobs are available for students who would like to work up to 15 hours each week. Priority is given to students with Federal Work Study or Campus awards, but all students interested in working on campus are encouraged to apply.

Not sure if you have a work award? Contact the Office of Student Financial Services at 309-341-7149.

The Bastian Center for Career Success coordinates campus employment. The process of obtaining a campus job begins with students using the online Knox Handshake system. Here, the student may view available campus jobs and apply for the jobs they may be interested in. Incoming students will receive an email with directions on how to access their Handshake accounts. Once logged in, students can view available jobs. We encourage students to log in to Handshake often or set up a filter so that they can be notified when new jobs are posted.

For questions related to Handshake or how to apply for a job, please contact the Center for Career Success at careers@knox.edu.

At orientation, staff will be available to help students with the forms needed to work at Knox. Per State and Federal requirements, original identifying documents are required to be presented in person to complete the required employment forms. Copies cannot be accepted. You will not be allowed to start working until this has been completed, so make sure you bring these documents to campus with you. You will find a list of appropriate identification here: Form I-9, and Employment Eligibility Verification (PDF).
