Sunday, September 1st: Welcome To Knox!

Receive students and assist with moving in.

Buses arriving approximately at:

1:00 p.m.
5:00 p.m.
11:00 p.m.

Arrival Team: OL’s, RA’s, and Athletes

*Buses received at Alumni Hall with Welcome. RA’s and OL’s will assist students with bringing luggage to their rooms. (Welcome packets in rooms)

Meal Times:

Breakfast: 7:00 a.m. - 9:30 a.m.
Lunch: 11:30 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.
Dinner: 5:00 p.m. - 7:30 p.m.

*Optional. Take a first look at your new home! A current Knox Student will be your guide. Parents are welcome. Meet in the Quad.

F-1 Visa Regulations
Room: CFA, Kresge Recital Hall
Learn about the benefits of F-1 status and how to comply with F-1 regulations from Alex Pia, Director of International Student Services. Not required for U.S. citizens or visas other than F-1.

Learn about resources and academic support services available at Knox. John Haslem, Director, Center for Teaching and Learning

Health and Wellness
Learn about Health and Wellness and Counseling Resources at Knox and what to do if you are sick from Kristin Wight, Registered Nurse or need emotional/mental support. Ensure your immunization and health records are complete and up-to-date. Kristen Wight, Registered Nurse and Brittany Dean, Assistant Director of Counseling

OL’s will participate in a panel by giving a description of their adjusting process when they first arrived at Knox.

Culture of Respect
Learn about Knox College’s Culture of Respect, Kim Shrader, Title IX Consultant

4:00 - 5:00 p.m.
International Student Panel and Study Abroad Reflection
Participate in a Q&A session to ask OL’s any questions about their Knox Experience. Write a letter to your future self about your goals and dreams for your study abroad experience.

Welcome Breakfast
Parents invited. Receive a word of welcome from Dr. C. Andrew McGadney, President; and Michael Schneider, Provost. Also attending: Dr. MarQuita Barker, Vice President for Student Development, Nathan Ament, Vice President for Enrollment and Dean of Admission, Jordan Hurst, Assistant Director of Intercultural Life and LGBQT+ Advisor, and Dan Marlin, Director of Spiritual Life, Jamie Blanch, Director of International and Transfer Admissions, Shadeed Khan, Assistant Director of International Admissions, Greer Henderson, International Admissions Counselor
*Bring your passport and I-20 with you to open banking and your computer for I.T.

Resource Fair - Alumni Hall
Bring your passport and I-20 (F-1 students), as well as your phone, charger, and a credit/debit card or cash if you plan to get a SIM card. 
*Note: if you need to purchase a phone, you can do that at the resource fair or during one of our shopping trips. 

  • Station 1  Student Financial Services, Leigh Brinson
  • Station 2  F&M bank representatives to open a bank account.
    • Passport and I-20 required.
  • Station 3 Wireless: Meet representatives from Cricket Wireless (activation fee waived) to get a SIM card in your phone or purchase a new phone. *Cash and credit/debit accepted.
  • Station 4 Health and Wellness
    • Bring immunization records
  • Station 5 ID Card
