John V. Morris, Knox Class of 1856 This Civil War era collection includes a notable letter mentioning the visit of Frederick Douglass to Galesburg and the Lincoln-Douglas debate. These letters were recently discovered in the Alabama home of Jennifer and Bob Devlin.
Ziggy Hamblin, Knox Class of 1920, West Virginia State University College Professor This World War II era collection includes letters sent to Hamblin from his African American students serving in World War II. These letters offer an important glimpse into the African American experiences and perspectives of those who served during WWII. The collection was donated by Lauren Tucker, Hamblin’s granddaughter.
