Cornelia H. Dudley Professor of Psychology Frank McAndrew was recently elected to Fellow Status by the Society for Personality and Social Psychology. Among this year's cohort of new fellows, McAndrew is the only individual employed at a liberal arts college. In recent months, McAndrew has also made more than a dozen appearances on TV, radio, and podcast news/talk programs, including NPR, the BBC, Irish National Radio, and New Zealand's leading morning television program. Additionally, he was featured in a WalletHub article about the “happiest states” in America.
Robin Ragan, professor of modern languages (Spanish), presented “Crisis Translation and Interpreting at the Border” on September 9 at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. She discussed her journey of working part-time as a translator and interpreter for asylum seekers and others seeking relief from persecution or deportation. She also spoke about the new Spanish translation and interpretation minor at Knox.
Watson Bartlett Professor of Biology and Conservation Stuart Allison recently presented his paper, "Ecological restoration during a time of rapid environmental change: Preparing for an uncertain, rapidly approaching future," at the Ninth World Conference on Ecological Restoration. Due to the pandemic, the conference was virtual.
