W. Dudley McCarter '72, a founding member of Behr, McCarter, & Potter, P.C., has been appointed by Governor Mike Parson to the Missouri Coordinating Board of Higher Education and Workforce Development. Dudley is a past president of both the Missouri Bar and the St. Louis County Bar Association. He is a past chair of the Children's Trust Fund of Missouri and previously served as a member of The Parkway School Board. He is a recipient of the Purcell Professionalism Award and the Oliver Rasch Award from The Missouri Bar. He also received the Geyer Award for his contributions to higher education in Missouri.

Chris Doscotch '91 will fill the vacancy of the 10th Judicial Court circuit judge, covering Peoria, Marshall, Stark, and Tazwell counties. Doscotch was recommended by Justice Thoms Kilbride of the Illinois Supreme Court after an application, evaluation and interview process. Doscotch owns the Law Office of Chris Doscotch, LLC, which was founded in 2010. He received his juris doctor from the Southern Illinois University School of Law.

Craig Owens '91 is the new City Manager of Lawrence, Kansas. He has previously held similar positions in Texas, Illinois, and Missouri. Read more about his appointment.

Olivia Keneipp '17 has been named one of "25 under 25" promising technology innovators in Chicago by Chicago Inno. She is an alumna of the College's StartUp Term.

Professor of English Gina Franco’s book of poems, The Accidental, is now available with the University of Arkansas Press as well as Amazon and other booksellers. The Accidental was awarded the 2019 CantoMundo Poetry Prize.

Tim Stedman, visiting assistant professor of art, talks about the album cover artwork he has created for Blink-182, Roy Orbison, Lyle Lovett, New Found Glory, and many more artists in four episodes of Vibe Machine Media’s Undercovers Season 2. The podcast series is dedicated to the stories behind iconic album artwork.

Nurettin Ucar, visiting assistant professor of German, gave a presentation at the German Studies Association’s 2019 Annual Conference in Portland, Oregon, on October 6. His paper, “The Nomos of Germany:  Die Hungrigen und die Satten (The Hungry and the Fat),” was part of a panel entitled “Performance and Otherness.”

A poem by Associate Professor of English Cyn Kitchen Fitch '00, "Occam’s Razor," has been published in Spank the Carp magazine. Kitchen is also the featured poet in the current issue of the magazine’s Mind of a Poet series.
