Equestrian Club Team LogoThe Knox Equestrian Team is a committed group of riders whose goals are:

  • To practice horsemanship in a wide variety of forms.
  • Set riding goals and work hard to achieve those goals as a team.
  • Support our teammates through encouragement and constructive critique.
  • Prepare for local horse shows by sharpening our skills, basic and otherwise, in lessons.
  • Have fun and learn everything we can about horses and what it means to be an equestrian.

To be a part of the team we encourage you to be curious about horses and horsemanship. The team is open to riders of all experience levels. Our members are expected to participate in weekly lessons that will focus on the skills necessary to ride a horse in either the English or Western disciplines. Other disciplines are welcomed to be practiced as well since we are an organization committed to Knox’s mantra of experiential learning.

A Statement from the Captain: Talia Bossingham

The Knox Equestrian Team is unique in many ways. Not only do we strive to create a fun and safe environment for new and returning members, but we want to teach others to love horses as deeply as we do. Therefore, our team does not select members based on skill-- we accept students who have been riding all their life and those who have never seen a horse up close before.

By allowing students to engage in the riding style of their choice, English, western, jumping, and sometimes even side saddle or bareback; they form bonds not only with each other, but with the animals they work with. Additionally, our team strives to keep costs low and subsidizes 4/5ths of every lesson and provides a wide selection of helmets, boots and other safety equipment.

Our horses teach us many valuable lessons; how to work hard, how understand another species language, the responsibility of caring for another being, and above all, how precious a bond is between teammates--human and equine alike.
