Sandra Dyas’s photography and videos empathetically explore and document the people and places of Iowa. Her photographs and videos have been exhibited widely, including the Walker Arts Center (Minneapolis), the Waterloo Center for the Arts, the Dubuque Museum of Art, FilmScene (Iowa City), Cedar Rapids Museum, Luce Gallery at Cornell College, Hudson River Gallery, the Falconer Gallery at Grinnell College, Drake University, Lawrence University, and the University of Iowa. She is the author of several books, including Down to the River; Portraits of Iowa Musicians (University of Iowa Press 2007). Her photographs have been published in the New York Times, Vogue, Newsweek, and Bust Magazine, among others. Dyas received her MFA in Intermedia Performance and Video from the University of Iowa. She has recently retired from the Art Department of Cornell College (IA).
