More than 19% of our students come from outside the United States, representing 59 countries from around the world. If you want a highly respected education in a diverse, intellectually stimulating environment, we invite you to bring your views and your perspective, as well as your dreams and aspirations, to Knox.
If you are not a citizen or permanent resident of the United States and will require a visa to study in the U.S., you should apply as an international student. (Undocumented immigrants residing in the U.S. should apply as First-Year Applicants.) If you are applying as a transfer student from another university, you should apply as a Transfer Applicant.
Complete your application online—use the Common Application, the Coalition Application, or the Knox College Application. There is no application fee.
Official Secondary School Transcript*
On your Common Application, request that your school counselor provide your official transcripts. Alternatively, your school counselor can email the official transcripts directly to admission@knox.edu. Knox College does not accept self-reported transcripts.
Teacher Evaluation*
On your Common Application, identify a teacher from an academic subject area (English, math, social studies, science, or language) to submit a recommendation.
English Proficiency
Proof of English Language Proficiency is required for admission. Proficiency may be demonstrated by any one of the following tests:
Test type | The minimum score required by Knox |
IELTS | 6.5 |
TOEFL (iBT) | 80 |
Duolingo | 110 |
If your secondary education was completed in English, you don't need to take a proficiency test. Instead, have your high school counselor email a letter to admission@knox.edu confirming your English proficiency and that English is the medium of instruction.
Financial Eligibility
As a need-aware school, Knox College requires all applicants to complete the Knox Affidavit of Support and submit a bank statement from all parties helping to sponsor your education. The bank statement must be issued within the last three months in order to be considered. You can submit these items directly to your AppTracker checklist. These documents are used to determine if Knox College is financially feasible for you and your family/sponsors. Learn more about Understanding Costs for International Students.
GCE, IGCSE, or Other National Exam Results
If you have taken any external or national exams such as GCE (General Certificate of Education) or IGCSE (International General Certificate of Education), you should submit your results as part of your application.
Transcripts from any college or university attended
Request that your transcripts are sent directly to the Knox College Office of Admissions or admission@knox.edu.
*A note on recommendations and transcripts: After identifying your counselor and teacher on your application, they will be invited to complete their forms online. If they prefer to mail your Mid Year Report, transcript, and/or recommendations, they can be mailed directly to the Knox College Office of Admissions or sent via email to admission@knox.edu.
Interview
We strongly recommend an interview with an admission counselor. Interviews are available on-campus, by phone, or via the internet with one of our international admission counselors. Knox also accepts virtual interviews conducted by Initial View and Xtraview.
