A Knox Education has Power.

Knox seeks students who are active, engaged learners. We value students who demonstrate their appreciation for a variety of educational experiences, both in and out of the classroom. Our admission counselors consider you as an individual when making our admission decisions.

In order of importance, we'll consider the following information in evaluating your admission application:

  • The types and difficulty of the courses you've taken to prepare for college—the more challenging and rigorous your choices, the better prepared you'll be.
  • What you learned from those experiences, including any grades you have earned—in addition to a high level of achievement we're looking for consistency in performance.
  • Your personal essay—this is your opportunity to tell us about yourself. The esaay is an opportunity for us to get to know you as an individual. We encourage you to write your essay in your own voice, reflecting your unique thoughts, experiences and perspectives. While AI tools can be helpful for brainstorming and editing, the essay should be your own original work.
  • The recommendation of your teachers, whether they were parents or formal instructors—these people can verify your achievements and evaluate your preparedness for college.
  • Your admission interview—we want to get to know you—put a face with your name and a personality with your application.
  • Your extracurricular activities—well-rounded students tend to be successful students.
  • Your results on standardized tests—we ask home schooled students to submit their ACT or SAT Scores.

College Preparatory Coursework

Applicants should be well prepared for the rigors of a Knox education. We encourage you to challenge yourself academically, which could include advanced coursework through a local high school or college as part of your home schooling curriculum. Successful applicants for admission will have completed the equivalent at least:

  • 4 years of English
  • 3-4 years of math
  • 3-4 years of science
  • 3-4 years of social studies
  • 2-3 years of a foreign language

Interviews

Interviews are required for home schooled students. Interviews are a wonderful way for us to get to know you, and an even better way for you to discover the Human-Powered Knox Experience. If you are not able to visit campus or meet with an admission counselor in your area before the application deadline, we are also able to conduct interviews by phone or via the internet. Contact the Office of Admissions to schedule an interview.
